勞萊和哈台是美國長期搭檔演出滑稽片的兩位演員。S.勞萊1890年6月16日生於英國蘭開夏的阿爾弗斯滕，1965年2月23日卒於美國加利福尼亞的聖莫尼卡。16歲開始在舞台上扮演丑角，後隨劇團訪美留在美國，1917年轉入電影界。O.哈台1892年1月18日生於美國喬治亞州亞特蘭大，1957年8月7日卒於好萊塢。1913年開始參加演出電影。1926年，兩人開始搭檔拍片，勞萊瘦小，哈台胖大，從形象上增加了滑稽感，成為美國早期影片中最受歡迎的一對搭檔演員。
